KAREY'S PERSONAL TESTIMONY
By my early 40’s I had accumulated pain and dysfunction throughout my body as a result of many overuse injuries from my athletic days, a difficult labor and delivery, and several great falls on my buttocks. Childbirth resulted in fifty stitches in my perineum, and a stage 2 prolapse and cystocele. I powered through each day to work and run my household. I was in more pain and had more dysfunction than most of the patients I had ever treated. I felt I had to take care of myself before I was qualified to help anyone else, so I attended Therapy for the Therapist at John F. Barnes, PT ‘Therapy on the Rocks’. Following the week of three treatments per day I came home committed to receiving John F. Barnes MFR® treatments once per week and practicing self-treatment two hours per day for six months until I had regained my previous level of function and well-being.
I know from personal experience that it takes a huge commitment on the part of the patient in order to heal. As a fellow therapist pointed out to me “I worked hard to get where I was in all that pain”. It took an abundance of self-care, attention and time to heal.
It felt like a miracle when I could go out and enjoy a 9-mile run with my high school athletes, play ultimate frisbee, crashing and falling on the ground, and jumping right up to keep playing! I know you can experience healing too. I am eager to share my knowledge and expertise to help you achieve your healed self and enjoy your life and activities without pain again.
